At the next Jazz at the Apollo concert we are delighted to present a top young violinist and his trio: the Ben Holder trio, reminiscent of Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt.
Tickets – as usual £12 (£5 students) – can be reserved by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, or phoning (01983) 523879 or 730601. Tickets may also be available on the door, depending on availability.
Other news for jazz fans: on Saturday 2 November there will be a Jazz Concert Dinner at the Royal Ocean Racing Club, Cowes, featuring Alan Barnes, Bruce Adams, Mark Nightingale and David Newton, supported by Jon Thorne (double bass) and Ken Black (drums). Dinner is at 6.45pm and the concert starts at 8.00pm. Dinner menu: Fish Pie Gratin or Shepherds Pie (both served with vegetables); Mixed Berry & Coconut Eton Mess or Chocolate Calypso Mousse with Rum Infused Cream. Tickets £29, available from Willie Sanderson, tel 07785 78 5440 or 01983 29 6094.
A number of pristine copies of the Jazz Journal (some bound) are available. If anyone would like to come and view them with a view to buying them (no reasonable offer refused), please contact Bill Wills on email@example.com and he will be delighted to show them to you.
A large collection of CDs, mostly jazz, are also offered for sale by Peter Morey, who can be contacted on (01983) 615123 or 07840 509974.
