Calling all trad fans!

This month we welcome Roger Marks’ Cornish Armada Jazz Band to the Apollo Theatre. This prestigious band from the extreme west of the British Isles was due to play for us over 12 months ago, but the weather at that time (snow and ice) overrode travel arrangements and we had to cancel the concert.  Many supportive fans said that we must bring them back as soon as possible.  So here they are!

The band have long been established at the forefront of Britain’s traditional jazz scene. Enjoying great popularity around the jazz festivals, they have also benefited from good CD airplay from the BBC in particular, and the magazine critics have generously acknowledged the performance standard of the band with some stunning rave reviews in the jazz press.  The leader’s philosophy is to use the musicians’ talents to create a unique style of traditional jazz, free from constraint or taboo, and to perform it with great skill, verve and enthusiasm. With: Roger Marks (trombone), Graham Trevarton (trumpet), Gordon Stafford (clt) Mark Hurell (banjo), Tony Mann (sous) and Jim Renton (drums).

We are grateful to Tony Thatcher for sponsoring this concert.

Please support this superb jazz band.  We have already received bookings in advance but tickets may be reserved by emailing [email protected], or phoning (01983) 523879 or 730601, or on the door if available.  Ticket prices as always £12  (£5 students).
