Blues aficionados will already be familiar with the regular ‘Blues at the Apollo’, or BATA, concerts.  The next one has now been announced, with a slight variation—’Blues and Roots at the Apollo’ (though we resist calling it the BRAT concert!).  Some of the usual suspects will be appearing—the Nick Cane Band are headliners, with the able assistance of newcomers to the Apollo the Tea & Biscuit Boys, with their unmistakable tea-chest bass and lively, up-tempo vibe.  Also appearing will be the Dropouts, featuring the voice and guitar of Mark Fennel.

The supported charity this time will be the Bus Shelter Isle of Wight , a charity devoted to ending the need for homeless people to sleep rough on the Island by providing safe overnight accommodation in a converted double-decker bus.  They need to raise the money to buy and convert the bus to provide a safe space for up to 20 sleepers, along with medical help and assistance in claiming benefits.  The bus will be staffed entirely by volunteers and the whole project is a ‘first’ for the UK.  For more information, or to donate or offer help, go to  http://thebusshelteriow.co.uk/

Arrangements will be as always: doors open 6.45 and tickets are £10, payable on the door.
